Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice have taken the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor by storm since week one, and now they’re aiming for the Glitterball Trophy.

Rose, 27, and Giovanni, 31, will face AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington, along with John Whaite and Johannes Radebe in the Strictly final on Saturday, December 18.

Viewers saw Rose and Giovanni’s incredible bond play out on screen, not to mention their impeccable dance skills and soulful performances.

EastEnders actress Rose became a fan favorite during her time on the BBC show and received consistent praise from viewers and judges alike.

Rose, from Shepway, Kent, got her first glimpse of fame when she starred in the award-winning short The End in 2011.

The actress attended a National Deaf Children’s Society filming weekend, and over the weekend, she met deaf director Ted Evans.

The chance encounter prompted Ted to play Rose as Sophia in The End, which sparked his interest in an acting career.

The End is a 25-minute short film, the plot of which is summarized as follows: “From the 1980s, The end follows four deaf children over the age of 60. “

In 2015, she starred in a second short, titled The Quiet Ones, where she played a character named Charlotte.

Rose then began participating in theatrical productions and starred in titles such as Mother Courage, Faith, Hope And Charity, and Herons Workshop.

She quickly rose to television and landed the role of Bianca Sinclair in the BBC medical drama Casualty. Rose starred in one episode as Bianca in the hit series, which aired in 2017.

The Strictly star also appeared in the boy band The Vamps music video for the hit song Middle of the Night, where she could be seen using British Sign Language to communicate with a friend.

The actress’ first leading role came in 2019, when she landed the role of Esther in the BBC Two miniseries, Summer of Rockets.

Rose’s acting skills certainly impressed producers, and in 2020 she finally got her big shot and was cast as Frankie Lewis in the BBC soap opera One EastEnders, remaining a regular on the show ever since.

Rose plays the daughter of Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) and was introduced as part of a hard-hitting storyline concerning the Carter family. Her character was originally written by deaf journalist and screenwriter Charlie Swinbourne.

Since finding stardom for the soap opera, she has impressed viewers with her acting skills and has been nominated for two awards so far, including Best Newcomer at the 2021 National Television Awards.

Rose made history in 2021 when she became the first deaf contestant to participate in Strictly Come Dancing.

She and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice continued to wow the judges every week and made history again when they got a perfect 40 for their tango in week six, which was the first 40 awarded to a couple in strict history.

Rose and Giovanni recently received the 2021 Heat Unmissables Award for TV Moment of the Year, following their performance in Week 8 where their Couple’s Choice dance featured a period of silence in tribute to the deaf community.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One on Saturday December 18.
