Billie Eilish and Finneas wrote a boy band song for Pixar’s ‘Turning Red’ – Billboard


Between them, Billie Eilish and Finneas have worn several hats: solo artist, producer, and now… boy band? The songwriting sister-brother duo penned ‘Nobody Like U,’ a feel-good track released on YouTube Friday, Feb. 25, which will be sung by fictional boy band 4*Town in Pixar’s upcoming animated film. Finneas will also lend his vocals to the project, performing and singing as one of five band members alongside Jordan Fisher, Grayson Villanueva, Josh Levi and Topher Ngo. According to People, the group will sing three songs throughout the film, all written by Eilish and Finneas. 4*Town’s fictional discography also includes tracks titled “1 True Love” and “U Know What’s Up”.

Pixar’s latest film tells the story of Mei Lee, played by Rosalie Chiang, and her journey of self-acceptance set in motion after she discovers that she spontaneously and uncontrollably transforms into a huge red panda when she gets emotional. Mei struggles with internal conflict as well as conflict with her mother, voiced by Sandra Oh.

That’s where the boy band comes in: “We needed our character Mei to be obsessed with something her mother wouldn’t approve of,” said turn red director Domee Shi at Variety. “Boy bands were the first step into the boy world for a lot of girls that age. The guys were all super handsome, polite, sweet and loving, and they had a way of bringing girls and their best friends together. plus, I thought it would be really cool to create an animated boy band.
