BTS set a new YouTube record after the music video for single “DNA” received 1.1 billion views on October 5, Monday.
With this feat, BTS became the first Korean boy band to have a music video surpassing the 1.1 billion view mark. Yonhap News Agency reported.
“DNA,” the lead track from the septet’s album “Love Yourself: Her,” was released in September 2017.
“DNA” was the first song by a South Korean group to simultaneously enter the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts. The single debuted at no. 85 on Hot 100, while “Love Yourself: Her” debuted no. 7 on the Billboard 200.
BTS, which consists of RM, Jungkook, Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, and V, also recently made history by becoming the first K-pop group to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. band achieved this feat with their first all-English single, “dynamite.”
Last week, BTS took over”The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallonwhere they spoke to host Jimmy Fallon about their upcoming album “Be,” which will be released on November 20.
“We poured the emotions we feel now, such as joy and sadness, into this album. There are many good songs, as good as ‘Dynamite’. So we hope we can hit the Hot 100 chart” , said Jimin.
The K-pop stars also opened up about their dreams of winning a Grammy, with RM saying they grew up watching the awards show.
“Grammy is the most honorable musical award that evaluates the notoriety and the musical odyssey of an artist. So we all grew up watching the Grammy Awards. and we especially remember the concert of 2009 with the costumes, Jay Z, TI and MIA. We watched it all,” RM said.
The BTS leader added that winning one would bring happiness and hope to his fans.
“To do a BTS solo performance with our own song winning the Grammys is pretty awesome and a dream that grew inside of us,” he said. “Winning a Grammy in such difficult times could give more hopes and dreams to a lot of people, especially our military.”
