DANVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) — The nation’s largest marching band music festival returns to downtown Danville this year on Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12. Don’t miss the Great American brass band festival, Danville’s free family show. Come downtown to see shows, shop and dine at our historic downtown businesses.
Many downtown businesses celebrate Brass Band with their own unique events and activities.
The theme is Get “Back in Brass” at the 31st Annual Great American Brass Band Festival. This free, family-friendly, scaled-down festival will be held in Weisiger Park (Courthouse/321 W Main Street) and surrounding downtown streets will be closed.
On Saturday, June 12, hear world-class brass music performed by the Dublin Cornet Band, Storyville Stompers Brass Band, 202nd Army Band with a solo with Matt Hightower, St Louis Brass Band, Advocate Brass Band, the Five Lakes Silver Band, the Todd Hill Orchestra presented by Whitaker Bank and the Baja Yetis.
The concerts will come rain or shine, so prepare accordingly. No tents are allowed due to location change, so bring umbrellas or raincoats in case of rain. Organizers will pause the music for the storms, then continue when they dissipate.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Food vendors include Captain Frank’s Hot Dog Emporium, Go-Go Burger, Mr. Gyros, Chuckie’s Bar-B-Que, Kona Ice, Spotz Gelato, BCHS Band Funnel Cakes, Southern Style Kettle Corn, and Civil Air Patrol Dessert.
Lemonade available from BG Concessions, Pepsi products and draft beer will be available for purchase, with all proceeds going to the festival. Chrisman Mill Winery will also be on site.

Although Kentucky is removing the mask mandate and operating at full capacity on Friday, June 11, we still recommend social distancing and/or masking if you are unvaccinated or for your comfort level.
Cane & Clover hand washing and sanitizing stations will be available at the event to keep everyone safe.
GABBF masks will be available for purchase at the merchandise stand, along with commemorative 2021 posters and pins. Pins and posters are also available for purchase at the Maple Tree Gallery located at 225 W Main Street.
The festival won’t have its petting zoo this year, but on Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. (or while supplies last) there will be a kids’ crafting station with activities and coloring items for kids. children, sponsored by Women’s Care of the Commonwealth.
The weekend festivities kick off Friday night, June 11 with the Gallery Hop at 5:30 p.m., the Sponsors Reception at 6:00 p.m., the Great American Swing Dance at the Boyle County Public Library at 6:30 p.m., and a free PowerPlay concert at Weisiger Park. from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
